30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 10. Draw your favorite Disney underrated character
Pocahontas!
Ok, so this one was hard in the sense of it being difficult to determine what an underrated character is in your opinion. What might seem like an underrated character to you might not feel that way to another person, but in the end I decided to just go with my gut on this one. In my opinion, Pocahontas is definitely an underrated character.
But not just her, the whole movie really...it had amazing music, fantastic animation, and a wonderful lesson that everyone could afford to learn. So the story isn't exactly what you would call historically accurate. In real life, Pocahontas and John Smith never had that breathtaking love story that we saw in the movie. But if you really think about it, most of this Disney stories are like that, not all of them are based off of historic events, but they are based off fairy tales, legends, and many other types of stories. Disney usually does keep just a little bit of the regular story in their just enough to set it all up, but after that they completely take it and make it their own and tell the story in their own creative way. And that is one of the things I think I love most about Disney, but enough about that...
Pocahontas really does not get all the credit she deserves. Yes, they have her added in with the rest of the Disney Princesses and she appears in the franchise since she is a Native American Chiefs' daughter. But she's not really one of the more talked about or advertised princesses. Pocahontas had so much to offer in her movie, she taught us how to embrace life and live it to the fullest, not to settle for anything less than what you really want and deserve, how to not let others look down or belittle you just because your ways are different than their ways, how to love even in the midst of hate, how important the earth is and how we shouldn't just take it for granted...
Heck...she even taught us how to paint with all the colors of the wind! Lol! But seriously...I could go on...I could say more...but I think you get the point!
Edit: About an hour after uploading I realized her chest area looked a bit off so I went back and fixed it up a bit.
