30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 11. Draw your favorite Disney Character that Dies.
Well...it's kinda awkward that so far The Lion King has dominated at least 3 of my choices in this Disney challenge since typically these are not characters that I usually draw that much in my gallery because I never felt overly comfortable with drawing animals. But I have enjoyed drawing them and doing this challenge has taught me that I can draw them when I take the time to do so! So maybe I will draw them more in the future. But anyway...on to Mufasa!
Honestly...as soon as I read the question I pretty much already knew the answer. I second guessed myself all afternoon trying to make sure I hadn't forgotten about anyone else that would have also been a great choice, but really nobody even came close to Mufasa! He's a great character, and another one that really didn't get a lot of credit in my opinion since he kinda dies early on in the movie. But he's a great father, and he had a lot of great lines in the movie that I found very inspiring. And these lines were made all the more wonderful because he was voiced by another great actor, James Earl Jones, I've always loved his voice!
So yeah...there is a baby Simba in this drawing too...lol. But this was probably one of my favorite scenes with him is when they are both in the field looking up at the sky together. So I couldn't help but draw it in full. Mufasa: Simba, let me tell you something my father told me. Look at the stars. The great kings of the past look down on us from those stars.
Young Simba: Really?
Mufasa: Yes. So whenever you feel alone, just remember that those kings will always be there to guide you. And so will I.
