30 Day Disney Challenge
Day 13. Draw your favorite scene from a Disney movie.
The lantern scene from Tangled.
Ok, so most people that know me well and have been following me for a while could probably have already guessed what I was going to say for this one! Lol...what they could not have guessed was that it was actually a someone difficult choice still! There are quite a few Disney movies that have these beautiful and breathtaking scenes in them. I love the intro scene where they first show Atlantica in The Little Mermaid as well! And the moment when the Beast transforms back into a human from Beauty and the Beast. The fireworks that light up the sky at the end of Mulan...I could go on!
My point is, there really are quite a few scenes that I could have gone with and felt comfortable with, but there is something really beautiful and magical about this simple scene to me and what it represented for Rapunzel that will always have a great place in my heart. It also gave me a love for lantern scenes in general I guess you could say because now if I ever decide to get married I've pretty much decided that I want it to be at night, outside and be lit up with beautiful lanterns all around. And then when the wedding is over we would release the lanterns! lol! Pretty crazy...but I guess just like Rapunzul...I have a dream! And this movie and this scene is a big part of that dream! Also artistically, I think they did a gorgeous job on this scene in the movie. It made me feel happy like a child again!
I wish I could have drawn something better and more worthy of this scene...but it's just a simple speedpaint to capture the moment for now I guess. Hopefully in the future I may be able to clean this up and make it into something better! I really like the water and the boats for the most part. I feel like the kingdom and the lanterns in the background could use a bit more work. And I'm still not certain about the sky...I was trying to go for something loose, colorful, and fun like the Starry Night painting by Van Gogh if you have ever seen it. I think the colors are ok, but not sure about the rest...maybe when I fix it up later I will no what to do...but if anyone has suggestions, let's hear them!

I seriously love these colors! I cannot express in depth how the colors move me (Cliche,I know lol) and how I'm just in awe of this picture. This is such an amazing scene! Amazing job!
