A sketch I started last night and finished somewhere early this morning. It's Mulan when she goes to her father's room to take his scroll and leave for war. The title is based off that part of the song Reflections that was sung just before this moment. It kept playing in my head while I was drawing this...so I figured it must be what my brain has chosen as a title.
Look at me I will never pass for a perfect bride Or a perfect daughter Can it be I'm not meant to play this part? Now I see That if I were truly to be myself I would break my fam'ly's heart
This is really a beutiful piece. I have not seen much art about this scene of the movie so it really is a fresh perspective. Your shading is spot on, in my opinion, and I like how you drew Mulan in your own style but still kept to the original design. Her dress, by the way, is very pretty. I like how the mother is a bit larger than the father because it shows depth and from where the shot is, you can tell that the mother is farther away from mulan.(hope that made sense.) Overall, excellent job on this piece. The message is clear and by the look on Mulan's face one can feel the mood of the moment.
